Hi, I’m ulash

I draw my inspiration, therapeutic approach, and consultative style from my upbringing, professional experiences, and the places I have lived. As an Asian Indian woman born in London and currently based in San Francisco, I bring an integrative perspective to my work. I am a therapist, educator, coach, consultant, writer, and mother, and I remain deeply curious about life and committed to embracing diversity.

I bring extensive experience from clinical practice, teaching, supervision, training, and writing, grounded in a multidisciplinary background in business, education, sociology, and counseling. This blend informs a holistic, practical approach to supporting clients and trainees.

I hold a Master’s in Counseling and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (EdD) and hold teaching credentials for both the United Kingdom and California, as well as a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSc) in California. I also hold a Certificate in Leadership from the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).

I am passionate about sharing knowledge through books and articles, workshops and trainings, and media interviews. I enjoy mentoring and training the next generation of counselors and therapists; I currently serve as an assistant professor in a MS Counseling program in the San Francisco Bay Area and have taught graduate courses and provided training across multiple graduate programs.

Outside the classroom, therapy, coaching and trainings, I contribute to community change through nonprofit board service and volunteer work. Active involvement in professional counseling and psychology associations helps me stay connected to trends in mental health and continually support how I serve clients and communities. I have presented widely at the professional organizations to which I belong, including: American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT); Asian American Psychological Association (AAPA); American Counseling Association (ACA); American Psychological Association (APA); and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).
